Mechanical & Functional Properties

Tensile & Bending Strength

The 304 stainless steel coil achieves a tensile strength of ≥520 MPa, making it suitable for high-stress applications like stainless steel coil spring systems and architectural frameworks. Its elongation (≥40%) allows seamless bending and forming for complex geometries.

The 316 stainless steel coil, with a tensile strength of 485 MPa, offers superior corrosion resistance due to 2-3% molybdenum content, ideal for stainless steel heat exchanger coil systems in marine or chemical environments. Its austenitic structure ensures resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, even in chloride-rich settings.

Weight Calculation

Calculate coil weight using:
Weight (kg) = Thickness (mm) × Width (m) × Length (m) × Density (g/cm³)

  • Example for 304 Coil: 2mm × 1.5m × 50m × 7.93 ≈ 1,189.5 kg
  • Example for 316 Coil: 1.5mm × 1.219m × 50m × 7.98 ≈ 731 kg

Why Stainless Steel Rusts?

Though inherently corrosion-resistant, stainless steel can rust under extreme conditions:

  1. Chloride Exposure: Coastal or de-icing environments degrade the chromium oxide layer, particularly in 304-grade coils.
  2. Mechanical Damage: Scratches during fabrication (e.g., stainless steel coil tube machining) expose raw metal to oxidation.
  3. Galvanic Corrosion: Contact with carbon steel or copper in electrolyte-rich environments accelerates rusting.
  4. High-Temperature Oxidation: Prolonged exposure above 870°C (304) or 843°C (316) weakens the passive layer.

Identification & Traceability

Each coil is laser-marked with:

  • Grade: 304/304L or 316/316L
  • Batch Code: Linked to MTC (Mill Test Certificate) for full traceability.
  • Surface Finish: e.g., 2B (Cold Rolled Matte), Mirror.

Applications

  • Automotive: Stainless steel coil spring systems and exhaust components.
  • Industrial Tubing: Stainless steel coil tube for hydraulic systems and heat exchangers.
  • Energy Sector: Stainless steel heat exchanger coil in power plants and marine boilers.
  • Architecture: Mirror-finished façades and structural cladding.

Manufacturing Excellence

Surface Finishing Process

Our polished durability is achieved through:

  1. Cold Rolling: Precision reduction (±0.01mm tolerance) for uniform thickness.
  2. Bright Annealing (BA): Hydrogen-nitrogen atmosphere treatment to eliminate oxidation.
  3. Electropolishing: Electrochemical smoothing for corrosion-resistant, reflective surfaces.

Quality Assurance

  • Material Sourcing: Direct procurement from TISCO/BAOSTEEL with ISO 9001 certification.
  • Testing: Salt spray tests (1,000+ hours) and spectrometer analysis for alloy integrity.

Why Choose Our Stainless Steel Coils?

  1. Global Compliance: Dual ASTM/EN certifications for cross-border projects.
  2. Customization: Slit-to-width (±0.1mm tolerance) and rewinding services for niche applications.
  3. Rapid Delivery: 7–15 days lead time with PVC-coated packaging to prevent transit damage.
  4. Sustainability: 100% recyclable material with SGS-certified eco-friendly processes.
  5. Technical Support: 24/7 engineering guidance on fabrication and corrosion prevention.
