Heat-Treated Stainless Steel Rod | Long-Lasting Durability
Product Specifications
Our stainless steel rod rack and industrial-grade rods are engineered for extreme environments, combining unmatched strength, corrosion resistance, and precision. Available in 316LN (low-carbon nitrogen-enhanced) and 17-4 PH (precipitation-hardened) alloys, these rods meet ASTM, AISI, and ISO standards for marine, aerospace, and structural applications.

Key Properties & Manufacturing Process
Our stainless steel stick welding rod and structural rods are produced using vacuum arc remelting (VAR) and controlled thermo-mechanical processing to eliminate impurities and enhance grain structure. Post-production treatments include quenching, tempering, and stabilization annealing for optimized performance.
Tensile & Bending Strength
- 316LN:
- Tensile Strength: 620–950 MPa (ideal for marine hardware exposed to saltwater).
- Yield Strength: ≥310 MPa (resists deformation under high-stress conditions).
- Bending Strength: Maintains integrity under 210–1,050 MPa stress, suitable for shower curtain rod stainless steel installations requiring torsional rigidity.
- 17-4 PH:
- Tensile Strength: 1,100–1,400 MPa (precipitation-hardened for aerospace fasteners and turbine shafts).
- Yield Strength: ≥1,100 MPa (excellent for high-load structural frameworks).
Identification & Marking
Each rod features traceable identifiers for quality assurance:
- Laser-Etched Codes: AISI/SAE grade (e.g., 316LN, 17-4 PH) and ISO chemical composition labels (e.g., X2CrNiMoN17-13-3 for 316LN).
- Batch Numbers: Aligned with ASTM A276 (bars) and AMS 5643 (aerospace standards).
Weight Calculation
Calculate the weight of a stainless steel rod using the formula:
Example: A 1/2" (12.7mm) diameter, 6m-long 316LN rod weighs 7.5 kg, while a 3/16" (4.76mm) rod of the same length weighs 1.1 kg.
Why Does Stainless Steel Rust?
While stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, specific conditions can compromise its integrity:
- Chloride Exposure: Saltwater or industrial chemicals degrade the chromium oxide layer. Grades like 316LN (2.5% Mo) offer enhanced resistance.
- Low Chromium Content: Grades with <10.5% Cr lack passivation. Our 316LN and 17-4 PH alloys contain 16–17% Cr for robust protection.
- Galvanic Corrosion: Contact with carbon steel or aluminum accelerates oxidation. Use insulating sleeves or compatible alloys for marine applications like stainless steel rod racks.
- Thermal Stress: Prolonged exposure above 600°C causes scaling. 17-4 PH retains strength up to 600°C post-heat treatment.
- Surface Contamination: Iron particles from tools induce pitting. Regular nitric acid passivation restores corrosion resistance.
Applications
- Stainless Steel Rod Rack: Saltwater-resistant marine hardware with polished finishes for aesthetic durability.
- Stainless Steel Stick Welding Rod: High-strength joints in HVAC systems and chemical tanks (ER316L compatibility).
- Shower Curtain Rod Stainless Steel: Non-rusting, tension-mounted rods (adjustable 37–73") for bathrooms and coastal homes.
- Aerospace Components: Landing gear, turbine shafts, and fasteners requiring fatigue resistance.
Why Choose Our Stainless Steel Rods?
- Certified Excellence: Compliant with ISO 9001, ASTM A276, and AMS 5643 standards.
- Precision Engineering: ±0.03mm tolerance for critical aerospace and marine applications.
- Corrosion Resistance: Optimized Cr/Mo ratios for harsh environments (e.g., 316LN for coastal installations).
- Custom Solutions: Tailored diameters, heat treatments (e.g., H900 for 17-4 PH), and surface finishes.
