Mechanical & Chemical Properties

Tensile Strength & Bendability

The 304 stainless steel coil achieves a tensile strength of ≥520 MPa, ensuring structural integrity under extreme loads. Its high ductility (≥40% elongation) allows seamless bending and forming, making it ideal for applications of stainless steel coils in HVAC systems, food processing equipment, and architectural cladding. For martensitic stainless steel coil alternatives like 410/420 grades, tensile strength can exceed 700 MPa, but at the cost of reduced corrosion resistance.

Weight Calculation

Calculate coil weight using:
Weight (kg) = Thickness (mm) × Width (m) × Length (m) × Density (7.93 g/cm³)
Example: A 2mm × 1500mm × 50m coil weighs:
2 × 1.5 × 50 × 7.93 = 1,189.5 kg

Why Stainless Steel Rusts?

Despite its chromium oxide layer (10.5% minimum), 304 stainless steel can corrode under specific conditions:

  1. Chloride Exposure: Coastal or de-icing environments degrade the passive layer, leading to pitting.
  2. Mechanical Damage: Scratches from rewinding stainless steel coils or improper handling expose raw metal.
  3. High-Temperature Oxidation: Prolonged exposure above 870°C accelerates scaling.
  4. Galvanic Corrosion: Contact with dissimilar metals (e.g., carbon steel) in electrolyte-rich environments.

Identification & Traceability

Each coil is laser-marked with:

  • Grade: 304/304L
  • Standard: ASTM A240 / EN 10088-2
  • Batch Code: Linked to MTC (Mill Test Certificate) for full traceability.
  • Surface Finish: e.g., BA (Bright Annealed), HL (Hairline).

Applications

  • Chemical Processing: Tanks, valves, and piping systems due to chloride resistance.
  • Architectural Cladding: Premium polished finish for façades and interior design.
  • Food & Beverage: Hygienic surfaces for conveyor belts and storage tanks.
  • Marine Equipment: Rewinding stainless steel coils for shipbuilding and offshore platforms.

Manufacturing Excellence

Surface Finishing Process

Our premium polished finish is achieved through:

  1. Cold Rolling: Precision reduction to enhance surface smoothness.
  2. Bright Annealing (BA): Heat treatment in hydrogen-nitrogen atmospheres to eliminate oxidation.
  3. Electropolishing: Electrochemical removal of micro-imperfections for mirror-like aesthetics.

Quality Assurance

  • Material Sourcing: Sourced from TISCO/BAOSTEEL with ISO 9001 certification.
  • Testing: Spectrometer analysis for alloy composition and salt spray tests (1,000+ hours).

Why Choose Our Stainless Steel Coils?

  1. Global Compliance: Dual ASTM/EN certifications for cross-continental projects.
  2. Customization: Slit-to-width (±0.1mm tolerance) and rewinding stainless steel coils for niche applications.
  3. Rapid Delivery: 7–15 days lead time with seaworthy packaging.
  4. Sustainability: 100% recyclable material with SGS-certified eco-friendly processes.
