Technical Attributes
Tensile & Bend Strength
304L and 316L stainless steel pipes exhibit tensile strengths of ≥485 MPa and yield strengths of ≥170 MPa, ensuring structural integrity under high-pressure industrial applications like stainless steel exhaust flex pipe systems. The elongation (≥40%) allows seamless bending into complex layouts without cracking. For shed 10 stainless steel pipe (SCH 10S), these grades maintain stability at temperatures up to 870°C, ideal for heat exchangers and chemical processing pipelines.
Weight Calculation Formula
Weight per meter (kg/m) = (OD – Wall Thickness) × Wall Thickness × 0.0248
Example: For a shed 10 stainless steel pipe (OD 114.3 mm, thickness 3.05 mm):
Weight = (114.3 – 3.05) × 3.05 × 0.0248 ≈ 8.2 kg/m .
Identification Marking
All pipes are laser-etched with:
- ASTM/ASME standard (e.g., ASTM A312).
- Grade (304L/316L), OD, thickness, heat number, and manufacturer’s logo.
- Traceability codes compliant with EN 10204 3.1 standards.
Why Does Stainless Steel Rust?
Although 316L offers superior corrosion resistance due to 2-3% molybdenum, both grades may corrode under extreme conditions:
- Chloride exposure: Prolonged contact with seawater (>500 ppm chloride) or acidic chemicals disrupts the chromium oxide layer.
- Mechanical damage: Scratches from improper handling or abrasive tools expose unprotected metal to oxidation.
- Galvanic corrosion: Direct contact with carbon steel or copper in humid environments accelerates rust formation.
Manufacturing & Customization
Processes:
- Cold drawing: Enhances dimensional precision for stainless steel bulkhead pipe fitting applications.
- TIG welding: Seamless joints for high-pressure systems like stainless steel exhaust flex pipe in automotive and marine industries.
- Solution annealing: Heated to 1,040–1,100°C to eliminate carbide precipitation during welding.
Custom Options:
- Threading: NPT, BSPT, or custom threads for secure connections.
- Surface finishes: Electropolished (Ra ≤0.5 μm) for hygienic industries or mirror polish for architectural use.
Applications
- Exhaust systems: Corrosion-resistant stainless steel exhaust flex pipe for automotive and industrial fume extraction.
- Marine & chemical plants: Stainless steel bulkhead pipe fitting solutions for saltwater and acidic environments.
- Structural frameworks: Shed 10 stainless steel pipe for lightweight yet durable construction.
