Key Properties & Manufacturing Process

Our stainless steel rods are produced using vacuum arc remelting (VAR) and controlled thermo-mechanical processing to eliminate impurities and enhance grain structure. Post-production treatments include quenching, tempering, and stabilization annealing for optimized performance.

Tensile & Bending Strength

  • 304N:
    • Tensile Strength: 620–950 MPa (enhanced by nitrogen for structural applications).
    • Yield Strength: ≥310 MPa (ideal for high-stress marine hardware like stainless steel rod holders for boats).
    • Bending Strength: Maintains integrity under 210–1,050 MPa stress (suitable for stainless steel fishing rod holders requiring torsional rigidity).
  • 347H:
    • Tensile Strength: 520–750 MPa (niobium stabilization prevents carbide precipitation in high-temperature environments).
    • Yield Strength: ≥205 MPa (excellent for furnace components and exhaust systems).

Identification & Marking

Each rod features traceable identifiers for quality assurance and compliance:

  • Laser-Etched Codes: AISI/SAE grade (e.g., 304N, 347H) and ISO chemical composition labels (e.g., X6CrNiNb18-10 for 347H).
  • Batch Numbers: Aligned with ASTM A276 (bars) and AMS 5643 (aerospace standards).

Weight Calculation

Calculate the weight of a stainless steel brazing rod or structural rod using the formula:

Example: A 1/2" (12.7mm) diameter, 6m-long 347H rod weighs 7.5 kg, while a 3/16" (4.76mm) rod of the same length weighs 1.1 kg.

Why Does Stainless Steel Rust?

While stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, specific conditions can compromise its integrity:

  1. Chloride Exposure: Saltwater or industrial chemicals degrade the chromium oxide layer. 347H’s niobium content enhances resistance to chloride-induced pitting.
  2. Low Chromium Content: Grades with <10.5% Cr (e.g., 430) lack passivation. Our 304N and 347H alloys contain 17–20% Cr for robust protection.
  3. Galvanic Corrosion: Contact with carbon steel or aluminum accelerates oxidation. Use insulating sleeves or compatible alloys for marine applications like stainless steel rod holders for boats.
  4. Thermal Stress: Prolonged exposure above 800°C causes scaling. 347H remains stable up to 1150°C, making it ideal for high-heat industrial systems.
  5. Surface Contamination: Iron particles from tools induce localized pitting. Regular nitric acid passivation restores corrosion resistance.

Applications

  • Stainless Steel Brazing Rod: High-strength joints in HVAC systems and chemical tanks (ER347 compatibility).
  • Stainless Steel Fishing Rod Holders: Saltwater-resistant marine hardware with polished finishes for aesthetic durability.
  • Industrial Machinery: Valve stems, pump shafts, and hydraulic components requiring fatigue resistance (304N’s nitrogen-enhanced strength).
  • Aerospace: Turbine blades and exhaust manifolds (347H’s thermal stability).

Why Choose Our Stainless Steel Rods?

  1. Certified Quality: Compliant with ISO 9001, ASTM A276, and AMS 5643 standards.
  2. Custom Fabrication: Tailored diameters, lengths, and surface finishes (e.g., precision-ground stainless steel rod holders for boats).
  3. Global Logistics: 7–15-day lead time with air/sea freight options.
  4. Technical Support: 24/7 guidance on welding techniques (e.g., stainless steel brazing rod selection) and corrosion prevention.
  5. Sustainability: 60% recycled content and energy-efficient production.
