Technical Attributes
Tensile & Bend Strength
- 304 Grade: Delivers 515 MPa tensile strength and 780 MPa bend strength, ideal for stainless steel 2 sections plate designs in architectural frameworks and food processing equipment.
- 316 Grade: Enhanced by 2–3% molybdenum, it achieves 515 MPa tensile strength and resists pitting in chloride-rich environments, making it suitable for marine-grade stainless steel plated brass hardware.
- 2205 Duplex: Combines austenitic and ferritic properties for 620 MPa tensile strength, perfect for chemical tanks and offshore platforms requiring high stress resistance.
Weight Calculation
Weight (kg) = Thickness (mm) × Width (m) × Length (m) × Density (g/cm³).
Example: A 304 plate (10mm thick, 1m × 1m) weighs 79.3 kg (10 × 1 × 1 × 7.93).
Identification Marking
Each plate is laser-etched with Grade (304/316/2205), ASME A240 Standard, Heat Number, and Supplier Code for full traceability.
Why Stainless Steel Rusts? Key Causes & Solutions
Even premium grades can corrode under extreme conditions:
- Chloride Exposure: Coastal or de-icing environments cause pitting in 304. 316/2205 plates resist this due to molybdenum and nitrogen.
- Mechanical Damage: Scratches disrupt the chromium oxide layer. Use polished finishes (Mirror/BA) for stainless steel plated brass components to minimize damage.
- Galvanic Corrosion: Contact with carbon steel in humidity accelerates rust. Isolate materials with non-conductive spacers.
- Chemical Contamination: Residual acids degrade passive films. Clean stainless steel 2 sections plate surfaces with pH-neutral solutions.
- High-Temperature Oxidation: Temperatures above 800°C deplete chromium. 2205 duplex retains integrity up to 300°C.
Applications
- Electrical Systems: Stainless steel plated brass connectors for corrosion-free conductivity in marine and industrial settings.
- Architecture: Stainless steel 2 sections plate structures for bridges, facades, and HVAC systems.
- Chemical Processing: 316/2205 plates for reactors, pipelines, and chloride-rich environments.
- Food & Pharma: Hygienic 304 plates with 2B/BA finishes for equipment and storage tanks.
