Our stainless steel welded elbow achieves tensile strength ≥515 MPa (304) and ≥485 MPa (316L), validated through hydrostatic testing at 1.5× working pressure. 2. Identification & Marking

3. Weight Calculation

Weight (kg) =  × 1.5 (90° factor).
Example: A 5" Sch40 elbow (OD: 141.3mm, WT: 6.55mm) weighs approximately 4.2 kg. For street elbow stainless steel with threaded ends, add 10% to account for connector density.

 

4. Corrosion Resistance & Anti-Rust Mechanism

Despite stainless steel’s chromium oxide layer (12-20% Cr), localized rust may occur due to:

  • Chloride Exposure: Coastal or chemical environments cause pitting; 316L (2% Mo) is recommended.
  • Mechanical Damage: Scratches or weld splatter disrupt the passive layer—post-installation passivation is advised.
  • Galvanic Corrosion: Avoid contact with carbon steel or copper in humid settings.
